Klau, who’s also deputy director of the Office of Enterprise Technology within the California Department of Technology, joined state government in January, initially as a volunteer and then moving into his current role. He immediately became a key part of the team helping with the COVID-19 pandemic response.

Klau arrived with a wealth of experience from his years with Google and Google Ventures, Alphabet’s early stage venture capital firm, and it was expected that he would bring an entrepreneurial spirit to his new role.

In a virtual video briefing, Techwire’s managing editor, Dennis Noone, will talk with Klau about what he’s been working on and what his plans for the future look to be. Klau’s team has made an immediate impact on how the state can adopt new and innovative technologies, and that will continue to grow as his team gets fully staffed and they take on a variety of new and interesting projects.

The briefing for Techwire members will run from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Registration information and other details are available online.
