Tech Veteran Schwartz Named Sales Director for authID.ai

“It’s an emerging technology and an emerging company, and there’s a lot of growth,” Joseph Schwartz told Techwire. “I do know there are quite a few positions that are opening all across the board (sales, technical and support) and there’s a lot of growth. That’s something I will help with as part of my role here.”

Joseph Schwartz, a veteran of technology sales and management, has joined authID.ai as the sales director.

A global company with U.S. headquarters in Long Beach, authID.ai describes its focus as “secure, mobile, biometric identity proofing and authentication solutions delivered by an easy to integrate Identity as a Service (IDaaS) platform. Our mission is to eliminate all passwords and to be the preferred global platform for biometric identity authentication.”

Schwartz, a native of the Bay Area, most recently was with Pegasystems, where his role was principal emerging enterprises account executive. His previous sales executive affiliations include Automation Anywhere, Imanis Data, Rubrik and Quorum.

“At this point in my career, I’ve been at larger and smaller companies, and what I’ve found is … I’m an entrepreneurial-type person, and with startups, that’s where I do my best work,” Schwartz told Techwire. “That’s really what my motivation is, as well as the technology itself. And biometric ID authentication is an area that’s really going to pick up here in the next few years. I’m also the type of person who likes to work with companies that have a lot of emerging technology.”

Schwartz was recruited for his role, and it’s a reunion of sorts.

“I have worked with the CEO before, Tom Thimot, and he’s fantastic, and some of the folks as well, just a great group of people,” Schwartz said. “I don’t know if you can call it getting the band back together, but … it was a welcome call here recently that I received from them, and those are some of the reasons for making the change.”

Schwartz said his new role will include growing authID.ai’s sales team, in addition to selling to clients in California’s public and private sectors.

“In previous sales director roles, I’ve carried a bag and also helped build out the sales team. That’s something I will take part in, in helping the company grow,” he said. “It’s an emerging technology and an emerging company, and there’s a lot of growth. I do know there are quite a few positions that are opening all across the board (sales, technical and support) and there’s a lot of growth. That’s something I will help with as part of my role here.”

Schwartz said his lifelong love of soccer has “shaped my outlook on a lot of things in life,” including his competitive attitude professionally.

“What I learned … is how to work with teams and how to compete and out-compete and win,” he said, “and I learned very valuable lessons that I carry into sales, as many people do. Always looking for an angle to win — that’s me!”

Schwartz is a graduate of San Diego State University, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He has also served on the Board of Trustees at Yavneh Day School in Los Gatos.
