TechNet Honoring 2017 Legislators of the Year

The industry group is recognizing state Sen. Ben Allen and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin during an invite-only reception Monday evening at Microsoft's office in downtown Sacramento.

TechNet is recognizing state Sen. Ben Allen and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin with Legislator of the Year awards for 2017.

The industry group will recognize the two lawmakers during an invite-only reception Monday evening at Microsoft's office in downtown Sacramento.

Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks, brought forward legislation signed by the governor in 2016 that requires California to complete a statewide response plan for cybersecurity threats on critical infrastructure. In 2015, Irwin authored a bill that requires California to complete at least 35 security assessments per year of state agencies and departments.

Allen has authored bills creating an online resource center for municipalities to comply with stormwater permit requirements, and the the California Voter’s Choice Act, which authorizes specified counties to conduct any election as an all-mail ballot election if conditions are met.

This bill, the California Voter’s Choice Act, would, on or after Jan. 1, 2018, authorize specified counties, and on or after Jan. 1, 2020, authorize any county except the county of Los Angeles, to conduct any election as an all-mailed ballot election if certain conditions are satisfied.
