Technology Department Updates Rules on Documents to Ensure ADA Access

The changes relate to the Project Approval Lifecycle, Special Project Reports and Post Implementation Evaluation Reports.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) has changed requirements for several documents to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The changes affect three types of documents contained in the Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM):

  • Project Approval Lifecycle (SIMM 19), which is intended to ensure that projects are undertaken with clear business objectives, accurate costs and realistic schedules. CDT updated the PAL forms to provide accessible templates, corresponding instructions and transmittal summaries.
  • Special Project Report (SIMM 30), documents that provide a basis for understanding and agreement among project management, program management and executive management, as well as state-level control agencies. CDT updated the transmittal to ensure that ADA compliance is met.
  • Post Implementation Evaluation Report (SIMM 50), a document that must be completed after completion of an IT project. CDT updated the transmittal to ensure that ADA compliance is met.

Anyone with specific questions about the changes may email ProjectOversight@state.ca.gov.
