The Chief Information Officer for the California Secretary of State's Office, Rita Gass, will be the speaker next month at Techwire's Member Briefing in Sacramento.

Gass, a veteran of state government IT, has served in various roles since joining the Employment Development Department in 1997. She subsequently worked for the Franchise Tax Board, the California Energy Commission and the California Conservation Corps before joining the Secretary of State's Office two years ago.

The briefing, which is open to Techwire members, begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O St., Sacramento. More details, including registration information, are available online.

Techwire's quarterly Member Briefings generally spotlight someone in state government who is familiar with his or her department's IT needs and procurement. In May, the briefing featured Keith Tresh, a cybersecurity expert with state government.

The Sept. 13 briefing with Gass is expected to run about 90 minutes and will include her presentation and an opportunity for audience questions and answers.
