Wong Joins Zscaler as Regional Sales Manager for State, Local, Education

Jan Wong, a veteran of the technology industry, has joined Zscaler as regional sales manager for California government and education.

Wong has a deep background in information security, having most recently been in cybersecurity sales for Splunk. Before that, he had been in various positions in the cybersecurity sector with Palo Alto Networks, Check Point Software Technologies, BEW Global and Cogent Communications.

“Zscaler’s public-sector team is growing very fast, and we’re thrilled to have Jan Wong join our California government and education team as a regional sales manager, focused on California state and local governments, as well as K-12 and higher ed,” said Avery Freeland, who recently was named Zscaler’s regional sales director for the West. “Jan brings a wealth of experience working within the network and security space that he’s poised to expand upon for our public-sector customers.”

In a LinkedIn post, Wong wrote: “I’m very excited to be part of the Zscaler family! I was very fortunate to have offers from many great companies. ... I chose Zscaler because they are uniquely positioned to help organizations with the challenges of a perimeter-less world. I’m really looking forward to helping organizations safely accelerate their digital transformations while providing a better, more secure end-user experience.” In his profile, Wong describes himself as a “cybersecurity specialist with a background in information security consulting, security operations, orchestration and automation, network, endpoint, mobile and cloud security strategies.”

Wong, based in Southern California, received his associate of arts degree from Citrus College and his bachelor of arts in political science and government from Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he was named Outstanding Delegate to the Model United Nations and received the Student Athlete Award.
