Workforce Board, DMV Recruiting for Management Roles

Two departments in state government are recruiting for professionals in the managerial and technology areas.

The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) is seeking a web developer/cloud architect (IT Specialist II) for the web portal development of the board’s Cross-System Analytics and Assessment for Learning and Skills Attainment (CAAL-Skills) systems and technology. The developer/architect “works closely with business analysts, data analysts, business intelligence developers, researchers and other technical staff from the CWDB, partner organizations and stakeholders,” according to the job posting.

The developer/architect “is fully responsible for all aspects of design, coding, testing and analyzing software programs and applications including but not limited to requirements analysis, systems design, interface development, web development on the AWS Cloud infrastructure, testing and implementation,” according to the posting and the duty statement. The incumbent “also researches, documents and modifies software specifications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. The incumbent works on technological solutions that are essential to the Data Management and Administration unit.”

The CWDB is “the governor’s agent for the development, oversight and continuous improvement of California’s workforce investment system and the alignment of the education and workforce investment systems,” according to the board’s website.

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,700 to $10,318, and the application deadline is April 25.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is recruiting for an assistant division chief/program manager to serve as DMV’s coordinator for the National Voter Registration Act. Candidates who qualify are screened and evaluated through the Special Examination and Appointment (SEA) Program.

The assistant chief, working under the administrative direction of the Licensing Operations Division deputy director, provides oversight of the work within the Motor Voter Automation Unit. As the National Voter Registration Act coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for all policy activities related to Motor Voter and daily quality assurance, will be the primary point of contact for all IT activities related to the Motor Voter program, and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the department’s compliance with Motor Voter program requirements.

Responsibilities of the position include program oversight and reporting (30 percent), collaboration (20 percent), management (20 percent), legislative evaluation (10 percent), training and communication (10 percent) and miscellaneous other functions.
