At the end of last month, the council’s Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) released its Tactical Plan for Technology (2017-2018), explaining current and upcoming IT initiatives for the state’s judicial system. Here’s a look at four developing business opportunities from the plan:
- It's recommended the council identify opportunities to acquire and integrate document management/enterprise content management systems with existing local case management systems. Deployment of new solutions is slated to take place in Q3 2017.
- The branch will be developing a digital services strategy for self-represented litigants (SRL). As part of the effort, ITAC recommends procurement of an e-services solution, which will act as a central access point for SRLs for information resources, document assembly tools and more. The Judicial Council will likely issue a solicitation in Q2 2017 for vendors who can provide an SRL e-services solution.
- In Q1-Q2 2017, the council will be publishing an RFP for vendor services to support transition to a “next-generation” branchwide hosting model for IT applications and services. The California Courts Technology Center is the model currently used by the branch.
- The Supreme Court, appellate courts, trial courts and Judicial Council lack a robust disaster recovery program. The technology plan recommends a funding request be developed in Q1-Q2 2017 for a disaster recovery pilot program at one or more courts.
